Barred Owl

Description
He dived down out of a tree, a few seconds later he was posturing in a crouched position with his wings stretched out. This is called Mantling, it is done to protect his catch from any other birds from trying to steal an easy meal from him. I assumed he had caught prey but I guess he missed that time as I watched him fly back into a tree with empty talons.
